How much use does a rebuilding team have for Henrique?? Kerfoot is due only approx.. 775k in real dollars and can be flipped for a 2nd or two 3rds at the deadline. Muzzin is only due 8 MM over the next two years and he offers a ton of value on a young team. Muzzin can also be flipped at 24' deadline for a decent pick. Not a bad deal for Anaheim.
We have a lot more use for Henrique than we do for Kerfoot.
Last season Kerfoot scored 51 points in 82 games: just under 0.62 points per game. Last season Henrique scored 42 points in 58 games: 0.72 points per game.
Over the past two seasons Kerfoot scored 74 points in 138 games: 0.53 points per game. Over the past two seasons Henrique scored 63 points in 103 games: 0.61 points per game.
And there are certain subtle indications that Kerfoot played on a better team than Henrique.
Muzzin just isn't worth a $5.625 million cap hit, no matter how you Toronto guys try to justify it, and that's especially true of non-contending teams. Is Muzzin going to carry Anaheim to a playoff slot this season, or next? So how is having an expensive veteran offering "a ton of value" to a young, developing, rebuilding team? Is he going to get us from 31 wins to 36? That'll bring us to within 10% of the season of a playoff berth.
No, it IS a bad deal for Anaheim.
