Toronto says no. That is a lot to give up for a rental player. Liiljegren is going to be a Leaf for a long time. I honestly think you'd have a better shot getting Sandin than him.

2 Questions then.
1. What if the value is a 2023 1st, Liljegren, 2024 3rd for JT Miller (no retention) and Luke Schenn? I think the value is low but acceptable at this point.
2. Does Sandin play teh right side at all?

1) The value is closer, but Toronto cannot afford the cap hit
2) Sandin has played RD before, although most people agree he is better as a LD

Yea thats why I added Kerfoot, retained on JT and added the 2nd from Toronto. To make the salary work for TOR. Then yea, if Sandin is Left side D then I don't think VAN would do it

Toronto says no. Liljegren is not being traded just to move Kerfoots contract. His numbers are excellent and he has big upside.

VAN and TOR don't make good partners for a Miller trade.

Liljegren is the main part of the deal. The 2nd was added to help move Kerfoot. But VAN doesnt need him so drop Kerfoot, the 2nd and the JT retention from the deal and add a 3rd for Schenn

Why don't the leafs just trade Kerfoot to the Flames for a pick instead of paying a sweetener for him. Btw, if Brown is worth a 2nd, Kerfoot is at least worth a 3rd+4th. Like what's your logic here. Leafs pay a 2nd to move Kerfoot but then the Nucks get a 3rd for him?? Lol

I agree. The Leafs would just trade Kerfoot in a separate deal. This was to save me from the endless comments of "the Leafs cant afford JT wihtout moving Kerfoot blah blah blah" If you read my comment, the 2nd was for VAN taking the salary attached to Kerfoot (ie. Kerfoot) PLUS having to retain to make the salary work FOR Toronto. I think Kerfoot's value is at a 2nd (MAX), more likely a 3rd, but the fact TOR has to move him anyways to be cap compliant means he has basically zero value (look no further than Pacioretty and VGK).
