Description

It's gonna be difficult to repeat. Kadri likely won't return because they don't have the cap space to keep him. The only two possible players that could play 2C that are still UFAs are Evan Rodrigues and Paul Stanstny. However Stastny is already 36 and Rodrigues only had one quality season. are they going to roll Newhook/Compher as 2C. What about this unusual and perhaps radical idea: Move one of Landeskog/Rantanen to C despite both of them being traditionally wingers. The goaltending is shaky, but hey Darcy Kuemper wasn't fantastic in their Cup run. Georgiev needed a fresh start after a miserable time in New York. Francouz could still return to 2019-20 form which would be a huge benefactor. I believe Cale Makar can surpass 100 points next season and will be the easy Norris favourite. Even if their goaltending is a little shaky, I expect them to go on another run.

Newhook should be fine as the 2C with the quality of wingers you have in the top 6

I agree Newhook should get a chance at 2C. I’d love to keep Kadri but not if he gets a long term deal.. that could cause a lot of cap problems going forward. We’ve seen Bednar trust Compher on the 2nd line too so I think the Avs are going to roll with Newhook/Compher. Still leaves the Avs with some cap to make a deadline deal if needed. This team is good enough as is!

I love predicting points. I see you were very optimistic here and I added a section on one of my rosters. I'm predicting big increases for Byram & Lehkonen, small increases for JTC & Newhook as they share the 2C role. Check it out
