Bruins-Blackhawks

Created by: orty777
Team: 2017-18 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: May 19, 2017
Published: May 19, 2017
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The Hawks are in salary cap trouble. Kruger most likely shipped out of town, but thats not enough. Bowman will need to deal Seabrook, Hijalmarsson, or Ansimov to free up enough space for improvments. I believe #4 on the Hawks is the odd man out. Boston wants to move spooner and has plenty of prospects coming up the pipeline. This just makes sense to me as a logical trade for both teams. Also, taking a shot on DeBrusk w Krejci. Could look to free agency as an alternative route, but I believe youth movement continues in Boston.

Not the worst idea, but I don't see how Spooner is going to help them. He's probably looking at $3+ million a year and Hjalmarsson is making $4.1, so how much cap relief are they really going to get?

Assuming the trade happens, and the 'Hawks don't want to pay Spooner, and he does sign a 3 ish mill contract on the RFA market, they get what a first and third rounder?
By that logic, O'Gara, Bruins 2nd rounder, and those Spooner picks are a nice coup.

They'd get a 2nd rounder. No team is going to give up a 1st and a 3rd for Spooner so I don't see an offer sheet being signed.

Yeah, fair enough. Still though, not a bad deal for either side

Spooner will easily get more than that.

I'm done with us buying players out. Dennis Seidenberg is going to cost us $2,166,667 and now you want to put Jimmy on that list setting us back total $2.7 something million?
