Paying a kings ransom to move barrie
and Subban > Barrie

Barrie is an overrated PP specialist that can't defend 5x5, Bouchard out produces him at 5x5 and nurse has a better goals per/60 when he's on PP1 so barrie is pretty much useless to us if he's getting out produced, can't defend and makes 4.5M to play on the 3rd pair + broberg and barrie had bad results when together last season which would likely be the 3rd pair

Subban is still a decent D-man that knows how to defend a lot better than barrie 5x5 and his entry denial rate in a lot higher than barrie's which is what we needed vs the Avs + he wouldn't need to play a big role in Edmonton behind guys like Ceci, nurse, kulak and Bouch. He just needs to break even at 5x5 on the 3rd pair (something barrie couldn't do) for a decent price

Dan nielsen on TSN1260 mentioned there might be mutual interest between EDM and subban if they can move barrie and the The Hockey Writers wrote an article on 3 teams likely to land subban and Edmonton was one of them
