I think you can get more then that for Reimer, Vegas is in need of a starter and Reimer had a solid season on a bad sharks team. I'd think sharks have the upper hand in a trade like this

there are very few legit options for Vegas right now. the best option out there is a guy on a cheaper 1 year contract who can start or play a 1B role and provide some mentor-ship to Thompson.
Reimer being one of the VERY few only real option's for Vegas should give us a solid return of a 2nd and a 4th at the very least.

at least. Reimer is the best option for Vegas IMO, maybe even something higher then a 4th. Could retain some on Reimer too (not that it would be a lot) but it would definitely be appealing to Vegas due to their constant cap troubles

Reimer 50% retained would cost them a 1st or 2 2nds and thats rough.
I like 4th's because the sharks have drafted amazingly well in the 4th round lately.

if Vegas needs retention and their willing to pay then why not, mine as well get the most value out of your players in a rebuild

Fully agree, Plus Hill had some solid moments last year but the injury sapped a lot of progress, would not mind seeing him and Kahkonen fight for the starter role and that could be a decent tandem till one of the younger guys is NHL ready.

Yes, and a trade like this won't leave SJ with goalie problems, hill and kahkonen could be a decent 1A 1B tandem

I agree, both have starter potential and have shown flashes and both are fairly young (25/26)
in a year that won’t lead to the playoffs I would rather evaluate younger guys than role with older vets.
and this way even if both fail to look like starters we know that next offseason we need a short term starter till the AHL guys are ready, and we have a ton of solid prospect goalies so i’m not worried long term.
