given the contract KK is currently on i think the habs are pretty ok with KK being gone. the 3rd rounder in the dvorak deal was probably the cost of the habs being desperate but thats about it. If he was expected to be a top offensive contributor then yes you would be right, but Dvorak brings a lot more to the table then just offensive productions which is way he is the most likely candidate to be moved by the habs.

The return mentioned above from the AVES was clearly just to showcase how ridiculous it is to think MTL would give up a prospect to take back Gardiner who add nothing to their roster except his salary.

the habs essentially traded kk for dvorak. as of right now its a wash. if kk ever breaks out tho it's an l. it's was an overpayment because the habs were desperate as evans would have been their 2c. he'd normally get and 2nd or so but arizona had all the leverage.

gardiner would probably be the habs 2nd/3rd best dman.

Gardiner would be a complete waste of Minutes. They have several young dman who will get ice time this year to block one of them with Gardiner would make absolutely no sense for a rebuilding team that wants to get a better idea of what they have in their system.

none of the habs young ld should be in the nhl this season. they aren't nhl quality yet. next season is when they should make the jump and gardiner is a ufa so i get why that would be a concern to you but it's not an issue.

Harris looked more than ready last year as did Barron before he got hurt and Ghule is also probably ready to if theres enough minutes to go around. So completely disagree with that Would also rather see Norlinder line up for 82 games then see Gardiner dress for one. There no risk at all to the habs playing some of the young guys They have Matheson, Edmundson and Savard, theres plenty of vet presences back there, and wideman, this is the exact time to give a serious look at some of the prospects and allow them to make mistakes.

i think they both need another season in the ahl. norlinder in particular may never be anything other than a reserve call up. matheson, edmundson and savard are all decent vets but they are #4/5 guys. habs need more skill.

edmundson and matheson are #4/5 guys.. sure....need more skill for what to play themselves out of a top 5 pick? Theres litterally no reason to add to the d that they have, Harris is a better skater then any other dman on our team Barron going to be able to log plenty of icetime. Edmundson is more than fine to have on our top pair and can play with anyone. Theres not nearly as much of a need at d as you are making it out.

you just can't ice a **** team and expect development. what the habs are doing is akin to what the yotes have done for a decade.

hahah based on what? you just throw out any comparison that pops into your head without thinking it through? Habs still have plenty of vets up and down the line up, they have had several young players take big steps forward in there progression, and oddly enough they did this by playing its a radical idea i know, its literally nothing like the coyotes but good try. Bottom line Gardiner serves no purpose they can have 4 dman to roll before harris and barron/ghule and thats not including schueneman they can enter the year as is and its perfectly fine.

coyotes had vets too. nothing you said disproves the comparison.

who really took a big step forward? maybe suzuki and to a slight degree evans. but that's just about it.

Coyotes have expiring contracts teams dont wont slight difference, habs arent going to be trading suzuki in 2 years cuz they cant afford to pay him. Two franchises that arent remotely in the same situation except for being in the bottom of the stanings for one season.

I'd say Caufield took a big step forward in the last half of the season, Pezzetta showed he can be an everyday player.
Anyways have had enough of this revolving door conversation, Gardiner wont be a hab so its all moot.

caufield went from red hot playoffs and calder favorite to not even finishing top 10 in calder voting. that's what not trying does. lost at least half a season of development

what? are you saying the habs started the season not trying? lol see its things like that that make you sound insane. Once the hab's embraced that they were going to focus on the youth and development and fired Ducharme caufield played at a near point per game pace and even though he started the year with 1 goal in his first 38 or so games, and got sent down, he still finish top 5 in rookie goals. Thanks for proving my point for me and showing that you have no backing for most of what you say. And caufield finished 9th in calder votes...
