Shat already said he would never play in Canada, his M-NTC torpedos this deal. Muzzin also has trade protection likely killing this deal on his end.

I think I read today that as of now that's the "number 1 spot" for klingberg at the deadline

If talking Kling to TOR 50% retained, I'd think: Sandin, 1st (pick a year), ~3rd (most likely '23) would be a reasonable ask/return. Might have to move some contracts/money as well but I think that's a jumping off point (from a MTL fan analyzing this so it's likely a null & void comment lol)

I thought something along the lines of a 2023 1st 2024 3rd and a young roster player/good prospect was pretty cost if he is playing well and 50% retained but CF will be CF

Not a chance in hell Toronto would give up a 1st and their best defence prospect just to get rid of Muzzin. Lmao

Personally I don't think we're going to see many '23 first rounders change hands unless there's star quality & term, teams aren't going to be too willing to part with a 1st in this draft without both quality and longer term security

It’s not just to get rid of Muzzin
Shattenkirk and a decent prospect go back too
