What could be if Hextall did things right

Created by: evanrodjesus
Team: 2022-23 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 2, 2022
Published: Sep. 2, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Would’ve never extended Carter in the first place. Would’ve protected McCann in the expansion draft over Jeff Carter rather than trading him for nothing. Would’ve only lost Tanev. No need to sign Rutta. Keep Marino. Trade Dumoulin cause he’s a UFA next offseason. Plus a two time cup champ as a top pair defensive dman with size would fetch a lot to an NHL GM, like Chiarot lmao. Left some cap space to trade for a rental at the TDL and then give Jarry a raise in the offseason.

Rutta won two Stanley Cups as well, so why trade a lot for Dumo when you can sign Jan to a cheaper contract.

Because this team doesn’t need Jan Rutta. Ruhwedel is just as good or better and makes way less. I needed to make room to give POJ a chance to play everyday and for cap space. Dumoulin is a UFA next offseason anyway so trading him makes sense when you have to trade a dman.

I was refering to other teams trading for Dumo, why would they trade a ton for him, when they can just sign Rutta in your scenarion, where Pittsburgh doesn't sign him.

Because only one team can sign Jan Rutta and several teams would be interested in a player like Brian Dumoulin.

You being serious? You actually think the Penguins current team is better than this? Explain to me how Jeff Carter is better than Jared McCann and how Kasperi Kapanen is better than Evan Rodrigues AND Jesse Puljujarvi? Dumoulin had a bad year last year and is a pending UFA. I’d rather actually give my young guys with potential a chance.

Why so toxic? I really don’t see how trading Dumoulin for a 4th liner, a B level prospect and a 2nd round pick is worthy of calling someone sped. It’s literally a fair and simple trade. Jeez man… positive energy. I recommend it.

I'm not being toxic, it's just that your profile picture looks like a troll account. You said there is only 1 Rutta, but there's only 1 Dumo too that teams could trade for, so to me it seems like you might be trolling, but maybe you are serious which is why I said "Just noticed the profile picture, explains a lot." I was going to also make a not so funny joke but I'll keep that to myself since you're already offended.

That’s very interesting. Very interesting opinion you have. Seems you think Carter > Rodrigues, Dumoulin > Marino, Kapanen > Puljujarvi, and Zucker > McCann since you think the current real Pens team is better than this team. Wow.
