    #3 overall

Here's why I think this kinda works. Aside from Nico/Patrick, this draft isn't especially strong. One could argue that Dal Colle, a former #5 overall pick in a DEEP draft, would be better than any player available at 3. In addition, DAL acquires Kulimen, on half salary, who is an exceptional penalty killer (their weakness) and a mid 2nd round pick. The Isles can still acquire a good prospect (Liljegren?) while shedding about $2M of cap space in the process

    1. Fowler, Cam
    Additional Details:
Poorly kept secret that Anaheim won't be able to keep all of their defenseman. This package works because Nelson is a 20 goal scoring 2C (who ANA can actually protect) and a blue chip LHD prospect.

TB can't pay all of their expiring contracts. Receiving a top-4 LHD shot blocking machine in De Haan and the 15th overall pick is reasonable compensation for Johnson.

Trades are pretty realistic IMO. Only one that may not work is Fowler. He's their best D Man and they want to keep him. Looking to move Manson, Vatanen, or Bieksa if they could

Okay Michael Dal Colle has zero experience at the NHL level, Nill just said that he wants an experience impact player for the #3 overall pick and you don't offer him one here. So why would Dallas do this.

What if they don't get that offer? Do you really believe Nill would swallow his pride and select a player who might not crack the lineup in year one? Dal Colle may not have NHL experience but he IS NHL ready. He spent the last two seasons marinating in the AHL and would have been called up by now but the Islanders have a log jam up front. As stated in the trade, he is better than anyone else not named Nico/Nolan in this draft. On top of that, they get another NHL player to aid their dreadful PK. With the like departures of Sharp, Hudler and maybe even Eakin via expansion there will be PLENTY of holes up front in Dallas.

I would probably agree to Vatanen as well. I considered putting that in the description of the trade. Marginally higher cap hit with Vatanen but he's locked up an additional two seasons

Trust me Nill will get what he wants, Tons of teams will be chomping at the bit to get their hands on the #3 overall pick. Rumor has it that Detroit might do Nyquist+Green+9th OA that's far better then your deal and they would get the #3 OA rights to Nuke+Cody Eakin and another prospect Edmonton would probably offer up Eberle for the #3 tons of teams will offer Nill pretty good players for the #3 OA pick.

for one, Dal Colle has only spend 1 year in the AHL which was last year. he put up mediocre numbers. the previous year he played all of three games with the BPST. Dal Colle is not an NHL ready prospect. I suspect maybe another year in the AHL and he will be but there is no argument to say that he is now
