if sharks never made any major trades or FA signings

Description
This is why dealing away talent and picks is a bad idea.
All these players are picks or prospects the sharks have traded at one point to get rentals and temp fixes to go after the cup.

the one glaring need is for a Goalie scout. we are terrible at drafting net-minders lol

obviously the list is skewed. there are another 10-15 trades where we traded a pick for an earlier or or a later one so I choose to keep it simple and focus on the more impactful deals we've made over the years.

you can argue Middleton was drafted by LA, but they never signed him and sharks picked him up. he never played in the LA minors and was a unsigned FA so i feel he should be included in this pool.
Barabanov for Suomela wasn't a major deal but I wasn't sure if I could include him here as it heavily favors us

the biggest 4 deals that hurt the sharks
3rd that turned into Walsh for the right to hire Debour (yikes)
Karlsson deal fleeced us bad
Polak for a playoff run cost us what became Comtios and Durzi and they now play for our in division rivals.
the 2 picks from the Nyquist rental are looking like solid future NHL D.

Forward group is obviously way better but in reality SJ wouldn't have landed Stützle because the season collapse for that pick probably never would have happened

Defense and goaltending I think are way worse than the current group

i agree! but the D at least has some promising younger guys.
sharks haven’t drafted & developed a decent goalie since Nabokov Kiprusoff days! they have a few they are working on now finally but it’s a little late.
honestly the players would probably be different as we would have drafted in way different spots over the years. but overall the talent is better than now meaning overall we’ve lost more than we’ve gained with all those trades done is my point.
