LETS GO

Perfect lines would be:
Kane-Mcdavid-Yamo
Holloway-Drai-Hyman
Mcleod-Nuge-JP
Janmark-Ryan-Foegele

I think I'd have McLeod at center. He's bigger, faster and better at faceoffs than Nugent-Hopkins.

Also, Benson has been better through camp so far than Janmark.

To me the top 3 RW's are pretty much interchangeable, but Draisaitl posted MUCH better results with JP than with Hyman last year.

Super pumped to see Holloway and Draisaitl getting together - I posted a projected opening night roster with them together just this morning. I think that's where he belongs, personally. If they were to add Puljujarvi to the Draisaitl line, that makes the 3rd line Nugent-Hopkins, Hyman and McLeod, which is absurdly good. Who needs a 4th line when you can roll 3 amazing lines all game?

I've been saying to put hyman and nuge together at 5v5. Hyman and nuge have insane chemistry on the pk. Not to mention those three are all very good defensively, so you could easily match them up against a top line of another team, meaning one of Draisaitl or Mcdavid are playing against bottom sixers. Unfortunately it's easier to rationalize playing Hyman in the top 6 than running three lines, which is why I don't think it has been tried yet.

Since Woodcroft took over in February, Nugent-Hopkins has played only about 20 minutes with either of McDavid or Draisaitl. This team is running unicorns going forward. There's no shame in playing on the 3rd line for this team.

Oh, and last season Hyman played 500 minutes on the 1st line, 300 on the 2nd and 300 on the 3rd. So I wouldn't say that this setup is exactly novel.

Quite possible. He's earning it.
