Game 1 Lineup

Description
Studnicka is the best option for line 1, moving DeBrusk back to the left. Czech line stays together. Greer takes Frederic’s spot and plays the left with Coyle and Smith. With that, our only real center left is Nosek, so he plays 4c with Foligno, who has beat out Frederic, and Wagner, who apparently, has no one to pass him up. Frederic stays on the roster as a healthy scratch, while Lauko also stays up because it has to be a 23 man roster.

Why was McLaughlin sent down when the only other 4rw option is Wagner? That means the team thinks Wagner beat out McLaughlin, which is absurd. Why didn’t they just send Wagner down, who won’t get claimed, so McLaughlin could at least start the year on the big club? The waivers exempt excuse isn’t valid because what, they’re afraid of losing Wagner to waivers? He should be in the ahl and even then he takes up a few hundred in cap.

Lindholm with Carlo doesn’t seem to work, and defense last night looked awful so switch it up. Stralman signs and plays top pair with Lindholm. Reilly plays with Carlo, that pair looked decent in a few preseason games. Forbort’s a main stay on the bottom pair with his pk ability. Both Clifton and Zboril finished the preseason badly but Zboril has shown more so he is put with Forbort. Clifton stays as a healthy scratch.

Ullmark seems to be more in midseason form then Swayman so he gets game 1 start.

Lauko sitting is useless for him, it's better to play in Providence. Stralman isn't a top4 D and played a single game with Lindholm. Agreed about McLaughlin/Wagner.

I agree Lauko sitting there doesn’t make sense but there is no one left on the roster and I think there’s got to be 2 healthy scratches forwards

Why? One forward is fine especially since they only have two games until next Monday. More chances they carry two extra defensemen than forwards.

Fair enough. I don’t know. You think Lauko plays game 1 or gets sent down?
