Description
Try to not bite my head off too quickly, just gauging interest after having a thought. Idk that something like this could ever occur but just looking for opinions to be sure.
Trades
MTL
  1. Marino, John
Additional Details:
Is there any way a trade based on this could occur?
NJD
  1. Anderson, Josh
Additional Details:
Is there any way a trade based on this could occur?

Yes, I know NJD fans hate this idea. Just gauging interest to see how far off these 2 are and what would have to be included to make it happen.

I’m just redoing this comment, since definitely effed up above

His current 30 point pace would be less than all but one of NJ’s regular forwards, Jesper Boqvist who has 4 points in 16 games. Considering he’s only playing because of Palat’s injury, and if you’re only looking at point totals, Josh Anderson could very well look like a 13th/14th forward

I get it if it's not a fit in NJ, but to say he's a 4th line grinder without value is also terrible. His current 30 pt pace will definitely be up to the 40 pt pace soon enough, MSL hasn't given very many guys consistent linemates. He could very well look like a 13th/14th forward sure, but he's also getting the results he is with lesser talent around him so he could also just as well excel in NJ.

I'm not saying the guy should return the moon, but he has much more value than non-MTL fans seem to believe.

4th line is the only place he could possibly fit in NJ. We have a third line with a 20 goal scorer on a 40+ point pace, and a rookie who is on a 61 point pace over 82 games on the wings.

I would doubt his pace will be up to 40 like you anticipate, since he’s only scored 40+ points once in this 9 year career. If he did, it would be an outlier and not expected from him year over year

His underlying show he very much cheats towards positive offensive gains, similar to Cole Caufield and Nick Suzuki. I’d argue there’s immediate regression when introduced to a system where he just can’t pull that anymore

Regardless of if I’m undervaluing him, he’s clearly not the kind of return a top 4 right handed defender sees

We can argue 2 differing opinions on him all night, but I was never suggesting Marino for Anderson 1 for 1. I'm well aware Marino > Anderson, was just looking to see if there was anything here.

Well, my initial comment is explaining how he wouldn’t even be a centerpiece in a swap of the two. He’s morel like a bad contract to include in a deal for Marino, and would not be much of an add for New Jersey. There would need to be a quality asset/s that makes up for Anderson’s lack of value to NJ. Montreal shouldn’t be willing to give up what NJ would want from them either

And thus, the impasse.

On another unrelated to Anderson note, what is the overall pricetag for Severson if he were to hypothetically be available? What's the template look like for a trade for him?

The issue isnthe Needs don’t match what either should be giving up, and the teams arent great trade partners because of it.
Sevo is a fine self rental if NJ is still in a playoff position come February/March. He could be moved as a piece (in a package) for an actual top line winger, or a #1 goaltender. In MTL’s spot, that means Cole Caufield, which shouldn’t be a piece they want to give up
