Boston trade

Description
This trade makes absolutely 0 sense for the Caps but I did it because I'm bored and I want it to be October already. As far as value I think this is fair. Bruins give up a few of their best D prospects and dump McQuaids contract while getting back a legit top pair rhd and lhd. Carlson signs extension with the Bruins after getting rid of McQuaids contract and Chara's coming off the books after this year. Their left defense is now set for years to come after Orlov extension (Orlov and Krug) and it also allows McAvoy to flourish in a second pair role without too much pressure on him on the right side. Sweeny said today that he's willing to make some big moves to improve the left side immediately so I tried to do that. EDIT: changed Carlo to McAvoy

You're better off keeping both Carlson and or lovo think

Vegas can take Grubauer in the draft no need for them to take Orpik to.

I don't see why Washington gives up a top pairing quality defenseman and a solid top 4 defenseman for this. As a Bruins fan, I would take in a heartbeat.

Boston says no in a heartbeat. Please change it back. Seeing fans throw McAvoy into deals gives me heartburn. That kid is a stud and going nowhere.

To be fair your top 4 immediately becomes one of if not the best in the league for at least 4 years after this deal

or they keep McAvoy and build with him instead. I'd prefer that route.

Fair enough, depends on your preference. All I'm saying is that you get two top pairing dmen who are arguably in their prime at the cost of a young kid who looks to be well on his way to becoming that, another d prospect who could turn out great but has 0 nhl games under his belt AND you get to dump a contract. To not at least consider it would be a disservice to your aging forward core.

Wait if McAvoy has 0 NHL games under his belt, who the **** was pretending to be him in the playoffs?

The reality is Sweeney & Co. love McAvoy and Carlo. I don't see either of them being traded unless its for franchise altering player. In today's NHL you need young cost controlled players. Chicago for years would lose a guy and then have someone else step in, when they wanted more then CHI could offer they traded them. Unfortunately they also started burning picks on rentals to make runs and now look at where they are.

Carlo + McAvoy + Bergeron + Marchand + Pastrnak are as close to untouchable as you can get

Still rather take the gamble on Zboril if it means I keep McAvoy
