Description
Using the proposed $77million salary cap.
I still have some good young players stashed in the AHL hopefully marinating. The forward group I believe is better, while the D I'd say is still strong, but not what it was on paper before. I think they would compliment each other well though. I was able to pull off some nice moves imo that kept the future in mind while still making efforts to improve the team. In reality I believe that there will be a few less moves than I made, and possibly a couple more rookies in the lineup. You never really know what will happen though, especially this offseason.

I like this but 1. I think oshie gets 6x6 2. No team would take orpik and retain some of the players salary there sending back

Really interesting squad. I agree above that NJD prob wouldn't retain some of Prout's contract, but nonetheless, this is a really interesting team. I notice you have a good deal of left over cap so maybe sign a D free agent ala Cody Franson, Mark Stone, or Brendan Smith. I like the team tho, just wish the d was a little stronger.

I really thought about mark stone as a UFA target, but I really had a hard time settling on what he will get this offseason so I just chose to save cap space. Schmidt and Burky are only on bridge contracts here so they will need even bigger raises soon too.

There's no way Ekholm gets traded. People say that Nashville is in expansion trouble, but they aren't. I'm sure they'd rather not lose Jankrok, but it looks like it's either him or Wilson getting picked. Besides, I'm sure they'd demand Bowey if they're moving Ekholm. A 2019 pick won't be nearly enough of a sweetner to take Orpik's contract, and we certainly won't get anybody that's worth a darn in the deal. Carlson won't be traded either, especially not for Eberle. It costed the Oilers a top line winger for a second pairing guy. We can demand a lot more for Carlson, and Edmonton probably isn't willing to pay that price. Term doesn't matter, the 2 mill raise that Carlson is going to get will be more than manageable for the Caps (or in this case, the Oilers). And Brett Connolly won't bring back that much. That's basically a first round pick
