Konecny is a shot in the dark, basically no chance.

But horvat, ghost and bjugsteady are rentals that have to be moved to playoff contenders and would help any team.

The Leafs need a veteran 5th scoring threat like Horvat or Domi and another veteran bottom 6 guy, kerfoot and engvall are liabilities. Sandin should be used to get a top 4 D in return.

Holmberg, jarnkrok, kampf are solid, Aston Reese good enough on the 4th line that's 4 out of 6 include Wayne if you like or a minor leaguer but that's why inserting bjugstad is great and the top lines have 5 guys set in stone and one hole.

With these holes the Leafs won't get to the holy grail yet.

That's how I see it.

Where is the kitchen sink, you've traded away everything else? Sandin has shown playing on his proper side that he is a solid d-man. Gostibehere is a worse version on Tyson Barrie, points are great but if your always a minus player it really doesn't matter.

In this case then they shouldn't touch the D? Is there a D they should pursue because I think because Sandin is proving to be decent and being young I would think he's the piece to bring back a top 4 guy? That's how I see it but if he's a top 4 guy or do we just use picks and non roster guys would that bring another top 4 guy in? Or are we set with what we have? If ghost is not that guy then sure I'll concede that point, so we are good or you wouldn't offer sandin for any top 4??

Two 1sts are fine but they will be late 1sts. The main problem is VAN adding their 2023 2nd round pick in 2023 and 3rd round pick in 2024. It means the two 1st round picks are not worth as much. Kerfoot is a cap dump. Voit, Timmins and Abramov are worth nothing. Remove the picks added by VAN and its a deal.

Their 2nd in the league in goals against. Why change the d-men? Rielly, Sandin and Liljegren are the leafs long term guys. LW is where they need a upgrade. Kerfoot and Engvall are both playoff weak as role players. Leafs need some grit. If you upgrade on defense then Holl for a physical, nasty, clear the net guy is all they would need.

I'm starting to come around on Holl, gio is great zero negatives, liligren is not talked about how solid he has been and all the part time guys helping from Timmins, mete or others has been great, the top 4 forwards are playing fantastic D, the goalies are great.

Especially the goalie play personally I believe one thing that causes injuries is over use like Rielly, Brodie now sandin with a neck, one guy liligren looks strong and healthy as an ox I don't think he will fall back, Giordano hopefully stays healthy.

I think one more top guy on D with muzzin out is necessary for playoff success

We all know what to expect with kerfoot and engvall come playoffs

Look at Boston's bottom 6 or Tampa a lot of teams in the league annihilate our bottom 6 but kampf, Holmberg, Aston Reese, jarnkrok are strong they do the simple stuff well, kerfoot and engvall are too soft I'd rather guys that are harder to play against, dump and chase 3rd liners.

And we need a winger for Tavares and Marner, maybe that's Holmberg but with jarnkrok on the third line that's nice they just need a centre that's not engvalll or kerfoot.

I like the cut of your jib. But at least I'd need a van prospect or roster player with 2 first

but I think the Leafs need picks too if they have to give up 2 first

I wouldn't give 2 first and a roster player for Horvat, I'd give 1 first and a roster player or 2 prospects but if van needs 2 picks maybe first and a second for me I'd ask for 2 thirds or something because at this point the Leafs are really diminishing their draft, and personally I think hey if you're getting first round picks it's still very valuable at least send a third back.

Just my thought on it.
