Pasta has publicly stated his love for the city and his desire to re-sign, so the closer he gets to free agency, the more pressure buils that there's a real possibility he'll need to move from a city he's lived in for a number of years now and has called home.

$10.5M is market value for 100+ point wingers, and he'll still become the highest paid Bruin in history. Obviously a good agent will try to get the best contract for his player, and a good GM will get the best contract for the team, but it ultimately comes down to the player with the final say. And I think we'll see a similar situation like Forsberg and NSH, both sides will hold out until close to free agency but ultimately come to a deal that is fair for both sides.
