Horvat’s cap hit is not much higher than Bertuzzi’s. And ROR can fit easily with 50% retention. Kane a bit more complicated and more unlikely.
Bertuzzi is a good player - and I think he fits the bill for what the Leafs need (if healthy, big if) and might thrive playing with elite line mates - but just don’t think you’ll get that kind of return for him. A 1st + mid prospect, or maybe a 2nd or 3rd + top prospect.

Ya I mean I wouldn’t complain with any of those returns.

You're smoking some good stuff if you think the Rangers are trading Miller.

This isn’t a prediction.

Looks an awful lot like a proposed trade to me, that even has terms of a new contract for Miller. So, why post it if it's not a prediction?

Do you think every trade that is posted on here is a prediction ?

It’s just an idea. People post things. People discuss them. Thats what this forum is for.

So my saying it would never happen isn't part of a discussion?

You accused me of not discussing, not the other way around. You posted a trade, I replied with my opinion of said trade, and then you commented, not me.

Okay, I guess I have to spell it out for you…

You made a snarky remark about me being high if I think this is going to happen. I said it is not my prediction of what would happen.

You continued to go on about how it is a prediction and asked why I posted it. I responded with the reason I posted it, which is simply an idea that is meant to be discussed.

Then your interpretation of what I said somehow, to you, meant that we’re not having a discussion and quoted yourself (albeit wrongly) in an attempt to deflect which is just making you look weird.

You didn’t say “it would never happen”, you implied my being on drugs (good guess btw).

Anyhow, this isn’t going anywhere, is it?

On a side note, I looked at some of your ACGM’s and let me tell you, I should be the one asking you for what you’re smoking, my goodness.

Huge overpay for Bertuzzi, but the Kubalik deal seems pretty even and the Caps could definitely use him. The Maatta deal looks pretty good, I doubt Sundqvist nets that much of a return, and I think the Rangers wouldn’t move Miller. Also, the contract for Miller looks too team friendly, he’ll be worth way more in a couple years, so a bridge deal of two or three years would probably be more realistic, and probably at half of the cap hit.

VGK isn’t trading premium picks for a Dman. We need more scoring, not defenseman

What do you suggest it would be? Also, what sort of contract do you expect Miller to command. I’ve seen rangers folks predicting a bridge deal around $4m a year and I am very skeptical of Miller’s camp considering that at all. Keep in mind my scenario is for the offseason.

I absolutely agree. If I’m the rangers, I’d move Lafreniere well before potentially losing Miller. I don’t believe it would ‘require’ a top 5 pick tho, but I know it would take quite a bit.

Think similar what you would want for Seider, that's what NYR would want for Miller. If he keeps playing this way, a 4X5m or 7x7m contract seems likely

I think comparing Miller to Seider is a bit of a stretch. Don’t get me wrong, I think Miller is a fine player and he is just scratching the surface but, Seider is in a different class.

Seider is like a Victor Hedman and Miller is a comparable to Mikhail Sergachev in terms of ‘class’.

You really have to look at the numbers before you say Miller isn't on par with Seider.

They both have size and can skate.
They have had roughly the same number of hits the past two years.
Miller has the advantage in takeaways to giveaways
Miller has the advantage in +/-.
Both average 20+ minutes per game.

Seider has the advantage in points, but a large portion of them have come on the PP, something Miller does not really get. For reference, Miller in 180 games has 102m on the powerplay. Seider had 237m last year alone.

Seider overall had the better year last year, but Miller is starting to run away with it this year. If someone has the defensive/offensive impact charts for both I would definitely be interested in seeing/comparing them. I think that would definitely add to the story. I think both are amazing players.

Even if Miller isn't completely on par with Seider (which I'm hesitant to say), the return NYR would want would be within the same vicinity as Seider.
