I don't see any team taking Abdelkader's contract, especially after the year he had last year. Abby's contract will be a problem for Detroit for a long time now, and unless they package a 1st rounder or more with him I don't see a team taking him (even with Howard in the deal). Just think teams know better than to have a long contract for a 3rd line winger.

Don't forget that Abby was playing with a bad knee all year plus had a separated shoulder as well. I think if he stays healthy this year. He will come back and play good again.

The concept behind this is that Calgary's essentially swapping similar contracts for a slightly more versatile player (Brouwer vs Abdelkader) and taking a 3rd as well. The Howard for Stajan part is basically exclusive and doesn't add to this.

I'm not sure we can Make Abdelkader Great Again without getting a Russian involved (Datsyuk). All kidding aside, I didn't realize he was playing through those injuries...
