No need for being an NHL insider, this is just very very very simple logic that anyone can employ.
1. Bruins don’t need a center.
2. They need carlo.
3. This trade makes them worse.
4. There are precisely zero example of a player like carlo (top end of the lineup, pretty young, with a good long term contract) being traded for a rental this century.

No, certainly don’t need to be an insider to figure this one out. All you really need is one of these two things:
The ability to look at the bruins roster (capfriendly is helpful here)
OR
Having seen any deadline deals before.
