They are better off giving up Sandin for Chychrun instead of Knies+Niemela. PHX has an option on that 3rd already so makes no sense to try trading it to them. Maybe include Robertson instead.

Robertson isn't great but I don't think his value is too far behind of Niemela. Sandin is literally a young NHL caliber D-man (even if he's a bottom pairing d-man right now on contenders), who has top 4 potential. Maybe you think Knies is more valuable, but Sandin is more likely to be an impact player so far.

I think ARZ would want Knies but I don't think they would be opposed to taking Sandin unless they are already set in terms of young LD. They really do want Knies though since he's a local kid and plays with Cooley, so maybe they won't give the Leafs the option not to include him. Sandin does have value though, and he would be a decent replacement for Chychrun if that's what they wanted. LD aren't super rare though so they might not want or need one. The Leafs are better off just not trading for Chychrun though, after they gave up all those assets for O'Reilly (they wouldn't be able to resign him probably if they acquired Chychrun).

For Meier, Knies plays a similar game so they definitely would want him too, not just because he's the Leafs top prospect, but because he makes a good replacement for a more rare player type.
