I would do that but don't think Caps would retain on Wilson for next year right now

Thats fair, i only see them doing this move if they continue to fall out of playoff race and don't really see a way to make it come TDL next week

yea i think they'll move almost all of their UFAs at this point, Orlov, Sheary, and Hathaway are good fits for TOR imo

I agree with that, may be challenging to get Orlov without a 2023 1st rounder but i think a Sandin for Orlov based move could make sense for both teams

With that setup, my lines would be:

Nylander - Matthews - Wilson
Bunting - Tavares - Marner
Jarnkrok - O'Reilly - Engvall
McMann - Kampf - Acciari

You put Wilson on the 1st line so people don't go after Nylander or Matthews and Wilson can complete at first line RW anyways

That lineup is like snorting a 50mg Viagara it gets the people going

I don't mind the idea of trading Knies, but this is way too much for what your getting

My thought was Knies, and Niemela and say 50% of the 1st rounders value for Wilson retained for this year and next and Sandin and 50% of the 1st for Orlov. Kerfoot to make the cap work

Not a fan of Wilson though. Again, don't mind the idea of trading Knies away and acquiring Orlov but personally, I'm not a fan just due to how much bigger of an impact a Chychrun/Dumba/Sheary for example could make over Wilson/Orlov combo IMO

I think we would still pay at least this much to acquire those pieces though especially Chychrun, and curious to why you think they would be a better impact for the leafs. IMO Wilson would be as good of a playoff addition as you could get, especially against Tampa in the 1st round and again if they play Boston in round 2. He would make some of Tampas players think twice before taking an extra shot against one of the leafs softer stars

Oh, I was talking about paying this package. The biggest issue with Wilson is the same for Kadri, he would prob. suspended halfway through round 1 and now you have to fill a void with no other option. Chychrun is huge and would provide an extra option to give Rielly a break (making him more effective) and not forcing 23 year old Lilly into a top 4 role going into playoffs. Dumba plays hard and can easily make the big hit when needed and reduces the pressure for Gio and Rielly. Sheary is a cheap option who could slide onto Tavares wing and now, Toronto has depth at centre and wing

Lines could be:
Bunts - Matthews - Nylander
Jarnkrok - Tavares - Marner
Sheary - O'Rielly - Accari
Engvall - Kampf - Homberg

Rielly - Chychrun
Brodie - Dumba (obviously 50% retained)
Gio - Lilly
Timmins

Sammy/Murray

This team rivals Boston and Colorado for the best team in the league with pretty good depth

An overpay like this is likely what it would take to move him. Caps prolly arent going full rebuild so doubt they would want to retain.

Tom would be great with Matthews and Nylander
