This trade doesn't make any sense for the Leafs. They just traded for Ryan O'Reilly to improve their chance at winning the Cup; they aren't going to trade away their 3rd leading scorer.

Trading Brodie for Myers makes even less sense. Both have 2 years left on their respective contracts. Myers is a year older, his contract is $1mil more per year than Brodie's, he only has 17 more career points despite playing in 86 more games, and has 465 more PIM than Brodie in those 86 additional games.

Brodie could cut his career point-per-game average in half and get into a fight once per game for 86 games and still end up with equal production and less PIM than Myers, all while costing the Leafs $1mil less per year.
