Description

Buffalo is in an odd spot, but I like their chances at sneaking in to the WC#2 spot. I am going to have them be conservative buyers. My focus will be on players that will contribute to the Sabres beyond just the rest of this season. Someone who could help the team in 2023-24 or even further would be a good addition for the right, realistic prices. There may not be many moves, if any here.

Now, Henrique did get banged up recently so there's that to consider. However, I really like the idea of adding him for this season and next. He is a great veteran leader who is very responsible defensively, versatile in playing the wing and center, and is pretty solid for a middle six forward offensively. The Sabres also can benefit from being able to take his whole contract, compared to other interested teams who may need to pay more for retention. I suggest that the Sabres send one of their 2023 2nd round picks (I am going to use Vegas' as its the lowest) to pick him up. If Henrique plays well but the Sabres step back next year, he can be flipped again.

Concerning his MNTC: He has a 10 team list. I am going to assume that some popular choices are listed: Arizona, Vancouver, Winnipeg, Montreal for example. The remaining six, I think you could argue there are six other teams that are worse off than Buffalo right now. Lets be optimistic.
