Playing around with a Lindholm trade idea
Whether or not we agree on this price, I think its pretty clear that the Flyers would want more than that to move Laughton: otherwise, he'd be gone already.

Lotta guys like that on a lotta teams my guy. Don't need to get so worked up on a pretty tame proposal when you look at some other ones out there. I just saw a Rangers fan saying that Ottawa should have given them Tarasenko back for less than the IRL deal. Now THAT is worth laughing at.

Seemed more like you were being rude to the poster for even daring to suggest it when its a realistic possibility. More appropriate for an outright dumb proposal like, say if they had a 1st coming back here with Niemela.

As for that Toronto deal, why do that for Vegas? Just shuffling the deck because....?

Cup Push
Seems more like shuffling the deck than a cup push imo. Trading away Teuvo and Bunting for one piece seems risky to me, also I kinda doubt they do that for both of them due to Teuvo's place in the room and Bunting recently signing. I also think there's no way LA does that deal.

Did you see the part where I agreed with you that he is an over paid bottom pairing guy? I'm saying its kinda silly of you to act like this would "never happen" because he's "our overpaid bottom pairing guy". Especially when Leafs are specifically linked to Ristolainen by someone like Friedman. Never said its a "good trade" but in terms of it being plausible, it certainly is. Its not like this is a troll post of Ristolainen for Matthews.

Quick question: Why do people always say this like GMs haven't constantly shown us they will pick up overrated guys all the time? If you look at just the Flyers last year, people said very similar things about Provorov, Hayes and DeAngelo and how they were overpaid and mediocre (which isn't wrong!). Yet, the Flyers got rid of all of them for at least something (even if they had to do the buyout for AD and then make another trade due to NHL rule). Like, are you wrong that he's overpaid bottom pairing guy? No. But, is this guy crazy for making a honestly not that horrible trade proposal (its not like a 1st and Knies)? I'd say no.

Interesting seeing all these Johansen things recently. I guess the Flyers would be ok moving him (and mayyybe retaining) but may not want the retention slot tied up all year?
Dowd is a good fit for sure. I bet they want a 1st, but i could see that working if they like Zboril enough (big if). Not far off.
I actually like the idea of Daws-Ullmark. A fun swap for both teams. However, I don't think Holtz is on the table at all. Mayyybe the 1st depending on Ullmark's future in NJ.

The Sanheim contract is rough, but I still believe Sanheim can contribute more long term to the Flyers than Provorov. Provorov looks like he doesn't GAF and is checked out: get him out!

I think the Flyers trade isn't necessarily bad in terms of return. I just don't know if they really want to trade Laughton. I think the 1st is interesting, Robertson is meh and Timmins is intriguing if they can get rid of DeAngelo. Don't know much about Murray.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>python3504</b></div><div>I would move Brodie and bring in orlov or Graves and not sign Domi but Barbashev.</div></div>
That's great but I doubt that they can just "move" Brodie with his modified NTC and likely asking price to take him. Brodie is also probably overhated.

The Dubas Plan
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hawksguy81</b></div><div>Actually, a buyout is the best move. The swap probably costs a little less because the Hawks move up in the 1st round. A dump probably costs more than just a 2nd, as RicXX alluded to. Chances are a Pens '24 or '25 2nd is later in the 2nd round than this year as well. Maybe not but probably. And Zaitsev was a one year dump. Granny is two.</div></div>
Zaitsev was traded while under contract for 22-23 and 23-24 (2 years) albeit one already had begun. Granlund would be the same thing? And if anything, a Penguins 2nd rounder in later years will be higher as the team ages...

What's a humble tailor doing here? I think you could argue to bump up the return, but there's no way Chicago declines it purely on principle. I just really hate estimating cap dump trades because we are often very wrong here (look at Mrazek and Zaitsev for example, think we all expected there to be more attached to them).

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>bvermillion</b></div><div>I like the direction here but still think the bottom 6 is really lacking in offensive ability still. I did one of these last week and had them buying Carter out and going after someone like Ross Colton's RFA rights with their 2024 2nd. Buy Carter out, do that deal with Tampa (theoretically they'll take the asset that they can then use to flip for someone else who is cheaper either this summer or at the deadline), sign Colton to something like 4x3.5.</div></div>
You're definitely not wrong, though I would say Olofsson I think has some untapped scoring. I thought about trying to acquire someone like Sturm from the Sharks. I like the Colton idea, I just sort of think it'd be a tougher trade for Pittsburgh, as they would be directly competing with Tampa in the playoff race. You're right they may just have to do it though.

Also, imo we don't need Addison, with Smith and POJ, having 3 of the youngest players on the team being all pure OFDs is not the best</div></div>
Good point about Dubas and goalies. I felt like considering the FA options that a trade and sign of Hellebuyck would be worth it (he's not ancient) but I see your point. I guess looking in FA I just wasn't sure who could be a legit starter other than bringing back Jarry (eh) or someone like Andersen who there's complicated history with. Maybe buy high on Hill, but the history of signing the hot goalie on the cup run is not great.

Hawks very well might consider taking Granny if they aren't shipping out the TBL or Rangers 2nd to move up. It's not like Granny is Zaitsev level bad.</div></div>
I mean I could certainly see the pick being like a 2nd. But a 1st seems like a lot considering, like you said, he's not a horrible player. And Zaitsev only got a 2nd and a 4th at only 500k less. So why would Granlund require a 1st? I guess if you're swapping, but I don't see a reason for the Penguins to do a swap versus a dump.

Saad makes more sense, Krug seems like a terrible pick up to me I don't know. When I think back to the 2016/17 runs Pittsburgh had, their defensemen were all pretty solid and deep on both ends of the ice (maybe Letang is not a defensive dynamo, but he's Letang). Krug doesn't justify his money with his output now either.

CBJ aren’t trying to get rid of Boqvist, but with Jiricek coming, he’s likely to get squeezed out considering his high-offense play style.
Was about to say, isn’t there questions about whether Cam will even play again?
Which, I guess it means he could be a good LTIRetire guy for a team needing cap, but I wouldn’t move much (if anything) for him right now.</div></div>
Yeah agree with you about Boqvist, I personally would like the Flyers to get him but it'd have to be more than just Hayes or maybe less/lower picks.

Hey, I'm a Flyers fan so I get your frustration with Hextall. Thing is he only tends to do moves when he basically has no choice (injuries, fighting for playoff spot) or if he just really really wants somebody (usually a tweener/prospect).
Yeah Saad is from PIT but idk. If they JUST got Saad as a Zucker replacement, I'd get that more. Krug though idk. You're the Pens fan, but don't they have a lot of D who provide offense from the back? Letang, Petry, and POJ I would think are offense guys.

I generally tend to agree with you in regards to prospects. That's why a team that is ready to make a push, or wants to get over the edge (win a cup versus 3rd round lets say) shouldn't hoard picks and prospects. The Canadiens are not in those situations though. Trading Barron and Harris is just silly with how young they are and they have been playing in the NHL. They're not guys in juniors or overseas. Also, I can absolutely guarantee you that the Canadiens both 1.) will be ****ed with the cap implications of Huberdeau's extension and possible decline and 2.) are not concerned at all about their TV ratings and financial situation.
