Description

I was absolutely correct when I said that no one is giving up a 1st for Tarasenko. I bet you guys regret being so harsh about NYR fans' previous proposals. In hindsight you should've taken the 2nd + mid prospect offer and been happy with it compared to the scraps you got today.

But I'm not just here to gloat about Florida taking Ottawa to the cleaners. I'm actually highly concerned about the Rangers. If that was the price for Tarasenko why wouldn't Chris Drury just match it and take him? Now we might be stuck wasting prime assets on someone like Guentzel who can walk over the summer, or we have to settle on someone who probably won't move the needle. I don't want Vatrano or Duclair. Do we kick the tires with our neighbors across the river and see about Toffoli as a pure rental? He might be the best option left but they're going to rivalry tax us and I don't want to overpay for him either. Buch? I don't know what the answer is. Simply put I wish we went after Tarasenko and called it a day. LMK what you think

NY had to take his full salary.

NY had to take his full salary.

NY has over 5m in cap space due to people on LTIR. They could have acquired him with no retention and been able to fit under the cap, if they did not acquire a 3C, or if they acquired someone like Bjugstad at 75% retained. But yes they couldn't do both Wennberg and Tarasenko

Rangers couldn't match as they couldn't have any team retain salary on tarasenko. NHL doesn't allow a team to acquire and have other team retain salary on the same player in a 12 month period since he was last in the team...which was June for senko

Toffoli probably beings back more than tank. No trade clause makes it an easier deal. I see Van, petey mentioned him a couple wks ago. They have to gear up for what Avs, Knights and Edm did

I don't think he would've turned down NYC since he never wanted to leave in the first place. I have to assume that Chris Drury bungled the situation. And either wanted no part of Tarasenko (which I don't get), or offered something insulting to Ottawa like a 7th

You're just coping. You have to believe that Tarasenko refused to go anywhere other than FLA because otherwise it's malpractice on the part of Ottawa Front Office to only get that return for him. There's a reason that Friedman is a reporter and talking head and not actually working in an organization. He doesn't have that much credibility

Players love playing in NYC. Rangers organization treats people and their families very well. It's known that he loved his time and didn't want to leave. Solely $$ reasons. His best friend is on the team and having a crazy year. He wouldn't have rejected NYC.

To me that reads like he's cool with Florida and I'm sure he's happy with his decision but I don't think that means it was Florida or bust. Just that it was on his list of cities that he OK'ed

Don't worry it doesn't matter how you feel about it, that ain't happening.

I'll be unhappy with getting Guentzel in general unless Drury absolutely fleeces Pittsburgh. I don't like him as a player and I think he's a product of Crosby. These are just general ideas. And yes OTT fans were very rude and overzealous demanding a 1st+ for VT when it was clear as day never going to happen. So yes I'll clown them now because I was right.
