Description

Calgary is in such a weird spot. I have seen a lot of ACGMs of them as sellers. I am not going to argue they should or shouldn't, but I do think that they may just be kind of stuck. If they were in a more surefire spot, I could see them doing more, but at this point I just don't know. I honestly think they mostly stand pat, but lets take a look.

One thing that they could do is similar to the Senators' Motte deal. Try to move out some of their older, UFA depth pieces for whatever they can get, ideally looking for a younger replacement and low round picks.

This one I know is a bit much. I do think there's a chance Lucic gets picked up, seeing as Deslauriers got a 3rd last year. It doesn't have to be Boston, but it could be fun since they're getting the band back for one last show.

If Boston takes on an unretained Gavrikov (2.8) and is able to move both Craig Smith and Mike Reilly (3.1 and 3.0) and waive Vinni Letieri, they wil have just under 1.5 million free. If Zboril is included in this deal (correct me if I'm wrong, but he seems to be on the outs in Boston) I think the math works. Stralman I threw in as well as even though he's buried it might help the real dollars. I know this seems like maybe a lot to Boston fans, but this was just a fun idea. Lucic would probably be the 13th forward, but maybe he's got a little something in the tank for this run.

Lucic is still overpaid at this cap hit and they need Zboril/Stralman for depth reasons.

If they did this deal, they would have enough cap to add other depth D still (Schenn, Seeler maybe both honestly) while being under the cap. I don't disagree with you that he's overpaid, I just think he COULD be moved and Boston wouldn't be the worst place for him to go.

I really think they could make this work if they wanted him back. Moving all the players I mentioned (including Smith and Reilly separately) would still allow them to add more depth after Lucic too. Could be fun
