You're probably right. I just disagree with the philosphy. They've needed to rebuild for a while and I feel like there's nothing on their roster bad enough to get elite players in the draft without luck, nor good enough to be a threat at winning anything substantial. Felt that way for a while. They remind me of the late 2000's, early 2010's Sabres. Just sort of in purgatory unless they tear it down a bit.

It's going to be interesting if Trotz honors best bud Poile's promises or not. They built the team literally from nothing and now Trotz has to do it again. The first time it was draft & develop, so I imagine it will be the same plan. With so many expensive Veterans on long comtracts, I expect a few years of just missing the playoffs, waiting for those deals to run out, while their prospects cook. In other words, plenty of disappointment ahead.
