In my opinion, WPG will need a centre coming back to fill the hole left by PLD. Dvorak probably the most likely one.

PLD will be a UFA during the summer of 2024.... why give up anything, just be patient, stock the pieces to have talent to surround him and Suzuki with.

dumping assets to hurry a rebuild is a guaranteed way to continue the mediocrity.

if everything that happens in this hypothetical scenario happens, the rebuild is over. There's no rushing anything, we're trying to make the playoffs.

I mean we'll have Suzuki, Dubois, Dach, Caufield, Leo Carlsson, Slafkovsky, Ferrell, Roy, Beck then older talent like Anderson, Gallagher, RHP, Evans, etc. Dont need anymore rebuilding.

All the players you named are forwards, RD is still weak and inexperienced, and zero legit goaltending prospects or active roster goalies.

Literally trying to be the next Oilers, no D and no Goaltending doesn't get you very far, i speak from experience.

Trying to be the next oilers? This habs roster is the compelte opposite... No superstar power, just crazy depth.

Ok I'll name the defense for you:
LD: Matheson, Guhle, Hutson, Harris, Xhekaj
RD: Savard, Barron, Mailloux, Kovachechic

Guhle and Harris have played both sides this season.

The D core doesnt need anymore peices.

We also dont have an overpaid 9.5 million dman like the oilers.

So, your veterans are an oft-injured Matheson and Savard.

and you think running 4-6 20 year olds on defense will get you very far?

And how's the Allen-Monty combo working for you? noticed you didn't defend that one, maybe there is hope for Habs fans after all.

Guhle, Barron and Harris do not play like 20 year olds... They've all been playing like top 4 d this season.

Allen / Monteambeault has been surprisingly good this year in terms of GSAx (both between top 10 and 20) so take that as you wish.. But I can agree that that could be our weak point next season.
