Description
Our problem isn’t going to be fixed overnight. I think Doug did a great job with the trade deadline to help us be able to speed things up. Still, we have a lot of money tied up in our sub par d-core. We can try and trade them but we’d have to give up a bunch of assets. Think we hold and burn a year off all these contracts. If vrana and kap have good value, re-evaluate and look to sell or resign. Sign a 3rd line center you can do the same with. Domi did it last year let’s see if he’d do it again. I bet he’d look for term but who knows.

We could prob sign snuggy and he’d be great at the NHL but don’t know if that kind of season would be a great development season. Give him one more year, maybe put him in the A since he’s dominating college. After one more year like this, Bolduc and snuggy will be ready, the free agent class will likely be better, years will be off the d men contracts so they should be easier to move with retention but can re-evaluate. Hopefully this can be the bottom of the valley and start to move upwards after this. If we hit on our first rounds picks, we could be back to competitive like that.

Draft:
13th: David Reinbacher
23rd: Dimitri Simashev
28th:Quentin Musty
45th: Hunter Brzutewicz

Trade back a couple spots where I think we could still land Reinbacher and get a second in the process. Obviously don’t do this till after the lottery cause ya never know but this draft would give us a solid 3 top 4 d prospects with the first two having pretty high ceilings. Musty is gonna be a solid top 6 forward. This would have us pretty loaded with good wingers. Would then need to continue to focus on D tho we’d be in a much better than we are now and centers. Zach dean doesn’t look terrible (middle 6 guy) with a couple other potential depth players.

The focus after all this would be to start looking to get rid of those contracts and building the youth of this team. I’d love to see us hold onto buch cause he’s great but maybe get top value out of him for younger guys. Idk, don’t see us being super competitive with our 4 long term D guys. Line up would look something like this in my eyes in like 4 seasons

Musty-Thomas-Kyrou
Bolduc-Buch/pick/FA- Snuggerud
Neighbors-Dean-Shenn
Blais-Alexandrov-Torpchenko

Simashev-Reinbacher
Pick/prospect-Parayko
Perunovich-Brzutewicz

Hofer
Zherenko

Obviously requires a lot of positive development and stuff but idk. There’s obviously way to much that no one is gonna read and this is all ideas and theories that I did when I got bored a couple different times so it probably doesn’t even flow well. Have fun roasting me!

Why would the Blues want Musty? I don;t get it. He's a slow as molasses pass-first winger, otherwise known as not at all what they need or like drafting.

He’s not that slow, definitely needs to work on accelerations and skating a bit but that was a big complaint with all of our last 3 first rounders, secondly, if he can figure out to put it all together I’d say he could turn into a player similar to buchnevich. You know who would be great to have when we are good again? A player like buch.

We have 3 picks, let’s say 9th, 23-25th and 28th. Who are you hoping we draft?

None of our recent high picks were slow, they just had hitches in their strides. Musty is slow. And wing isn't a priority anyway. And Buch is faster and bigger.

Excuse my copy pasta...

If we do end up 9th, I'd want either Reinbacher, Dvorsky, Danielson or Moore with that pick. With the later 1sts, I'd like one of Price, Lindstein, Simashev or Molendyk and then perhaps Stramel, Honzek, Ziemmer or Heidt (depending on what transpires before then).

I’d like rienbacher. I have no interest in dvorsky with the first pick, maybe with the second but he’ll be gone. Don’t know much bout Danielson and would be fairly happy with Moore and could definitely see us going that route. I would love to get simashev. Happy with molendyk, disappointed with price or lindstein. Hoznek wouldn’t be bad. Think strammel is a 2nd round guy. Others outside the top 45. Ideally we’d leave with a top 4(hopefully top pair) LD and RD and a good center. I realize i had the D and a winger but still

He’s also a 17 year old kid who already improved tremendously under a better coach. He’ll fill out and I think he has serious NHL upside. Who knows tho we’ll have to wait and see

Not sure why you'd be disappointed with Price or Lindstein. Very well-rounded, steady players. Kinda like Ekholm.

Strammel is only in the case we don't get one of the top Cs earlier. But he's a total Blues type player.
