No team is helping out the NYR by taking Barclay Goodrow off of their hands. You'd have to pay other teams to take Goodrow off of your hands.

If Alex Nedeljkovic was willing to sign for 2 x $925,000 he'd remain in Detroit. There's no way in hell he's taking a major drop in pay due to playing on a bad Red Wings team. Especially going to high taxed New York State.

And Tarasenko would get a hell of a lot more than 2 x $4,500,000 on the open market.

And after all this you still only have a 20 man roster which isn't feasible over the long term.

I genuinely wonder if you've ever watched Goodrow play a game at all because if you did you would know he actually does have value, hes not a cap dump contract like everyone thinks he is for some godforsaken reason. He also has that playoff factor that teams looking to contend desperately want/need (look at Jeannot), on top of that he's also (reportedly) a big locker room guy.

Goodrow is best just stayed put. Buyout until 2030-31 is not the best idea.

Anyone who thinks Goodrow will be bought out isn't paying attention to how Drury operates. He easily could have bought out Nemeth this summer and opted to trade assets to get rid of him. Drury has done extremely well making trades except for the Buchnevich deal. He will find a way to move Goodrow, but I think the return will be better than others expect. I completely agree with Breadman-10, packaging Goodrow with Jones (who does not fit into what Gallant wants on the 3rd pair) could return some picks for the upcoming draft.
