Description

UFA's:
Kane - League min. contract or he retires. I don't think he has any desire to play elsewhere for more money, but what do I know. I just figure he won't want to move his whole family again.

Tarasenko - Coin flip. If he wants to say, he'll have to take a pay cut. He has more to give than Kane does, so it's entirely possible he leaves to play elsewhere for top dollar.

Halak - I think he'll retire.

Mikkola - Replaceable in my opinion. Slot Jones into that third pairing and give him the whole season to develop,

Motte - I think the Motte fantasy has run it's course. Call up Othmann.

Lyon - He'll be hitting the market with Bob/Knight in FLA. 30 years old and might get a starting job, but he would be a good fit to back up Shesterkin if they can get him for a good price.

TRADE:
Goodrow - Has to be traded to afford everything. He is the only player with a significant cap hit that can be moved this offseason in my eyes. Brodzinski is also a good replacement. Captain for Hartford and has NHL playing experience. Not sure of who is or isn't on Goodrow's no-trade list.

RFA's:
Miller - Must sign. Hopefully $4M is enough.

Lafreniere - Must sign. Hopefully they get him for a good price.

Jones - Resign to play 3LD.

Somebody is going to offer sheet Laf before he signs that low for 2 years. He's easily worth the risk as a 2nd round pick to pay the price of $4.1 Mil for 1 year.
