Yeah no. Canucks aren't trading Quinn Hughes for a good 2C. Suzuki's production is high end 2C. His defense is overrated. He hasn't been good defensively since his rookie season. Only way you are getting Hughes is if you add Caufield to this package which Montreal shouldn't do

I think you are underestimating suzuki, sure his production isnt where you'd want it to be for a 1C, but he hasnt played with the most talented teamates either. This season in the 48 games he played with caufield he was over a PPG but when he got injured he didnt really have anyone to play with. For the backhalf of the season he was switching with RHP, Hoffman, Drouin, Pitlick and Ylonen as linemates. To put into perspective, our 2nd highest point producer was dach with 38, 18 less than Suzuki.

Even with Caufield, at one point at the start of the season they had 40% of our goals, so teams just had to put all their efforts into shotting them down and it was over for us. Our PP was one of the worst of the league.

Last season too we had a ****one of injuries, to the point where we had to call up the ECHL boys, and he played with Cedrick Paquette and Rem Pitlick on his wings.

I think right now he is a 1b option but could turn into a top 20 centerman. I agree that the value isnt right tho.

His underlying numbers just don't really support this. I think he is a very good player, but he is at best a low end 1C/high end 2C. He would not be a first line center on a contender. His offense is simply not good enough to compensate for his terrible defensive metrics. With good linemates, he could get away with being a 1C, but you don't win a cup with him
