Draft Lottery Jinx

Description
We all know we’re not going to win the lottery - the Wings don’t have that kind of luck…this is my attempt at reverse psychology-ing the Hockey Gods.

Whatever, we’re picking 9th (or 10th). A “realistic” dream scenario for me would be to win the 2nd pick and trade down with whoever is at #3, get an extra couple picks and draft Leo Carlsson.

At 9 or 10, I would like Will Smith, Ryan Leonard or Dalibor Dvorsky.

At 18 id like to see David Reinbacher, Axel Sandin Pellikka, Riley Heidt, Calum Ritchie or Quentin Musty.

In the 2nd round, I am intrigued by Kasper Halttunen, Daniil But, Lukas Dragicevic, Maxim Strbak, Otto Stenberg, Caden Price & Noah Dower Nilsson.

As far as this next season goes, im just not sure the Red Wings have the talent to compete for the Cup although, I do think we might be good enough to squeak into the playoffs. However, I don’t think we should be making a splashy trade or make any big moves until after the 2023-24 season unless a unique opportunity presents itself.

Adding 5 good/great prospects in this upcoming draft and continuing to develop our farm system should set us up nicely for the next 10 years. I look at this offseason similar to last years; add veterans to allow our youngsters to learn & compete for their spots and possibly contend for the postseason.

Hamonic doesn't really deserve more than 1M let alone 3. I don't think that trade really helps the Rangers cap that much. If they are going to move Trouba I think they are better off completely clearing his cap.
I wouldn't trade down unless for some reason they really think Carlsson is worth it or the offer is astronomical.

Hamonic is not a 3 mil guy anymore

More of a 1.25 or 1 mil guy

I’d be willing to include a 2nd rounder in that Trouba trade. Not sure that would make it work.

I was thinking it would be ideal to move from #2 to like #3 or #4 and get an extra 1st from CBJ or ANA. I actually like Will Smith & Leo Carlsson as much as Fantilli, if not more.
