I agree he's not worth that much.
I think any team will have to overpay for him because of the lack of high-quality UFAs this off-season.

@Wallenstein, I take it you're not a Leafs fan.

Soucy and Mayfield are both 3rd pair D, effective in limited roles with limited ice time against non-elite players. Schenn unlocked Rielly, playing the same role as you'd see players like Geoff Beukeboom play for Brian Leetch in the 90s. There's no reason to walk away from that and pay more for a replacement.

In the regular season, analytics had TJ Brodie as the 9th best defensive defenseman in the entire NHL. Trading him for a 3rd or 4th liner (depending on the day) because Brodie was likely hurt in the playoffs will not happen.

With all respect, the Winnipeg trade would be disastrous. At least we'd get Ehlers, still though.

You could be right on all accounts but from the eye test, Brodie looked slow and was a turnover machine in the playoffs. Given that Soucy played better against faster opposition, is bigger and younger, I'd prefer him over Brodie. Schenn looked good but again made several mistakes in the playoffs. He brings a lot to the team and its not that I wouldn't want him I think there's better available.
Leafs need a shakeup. I doubt they do much to change it tho.

Have you put together a team? I'd like to see your ideas. Cheers!

Just saw your Leafs team.
I don't think those other teams would be willing to make those trades for what you're suggesting.
BTW I'm a Leafs fan just a little more realistic one.
