No Outside Moves

Description
Obviously this won't happen, but thought it would be fun to see what it would look like if JBB kept everything in house.

You could swap out Goncalves, Edmonds, Balcers for Fortier, Koepke or Barre-Boulet. Alnefelt is probably still best served as the starter in Syracuse for now.

The thought of Fleury playing consistently is actually scary.

Would this lineup even warrant the 2nd WC spot?

Think you can sign Jeannot to that cheap of a deal after trading an entire draft class for him? I know he got hurt, and that might hurt is leverage, but seems like a really cheap deal.

If he's playing bottom pair and PK mins, he'll be fine. Wish the Canes still had him in that roll tbh.

Maybe he gets that for a 2-year deal but not 4 years. I think he works his way to the 2x6 deal that was rumored when he was first traded. I just don't really see the deal going above 1.5 at least right now because he didn't produce much and then got hurt.

You aren't giving Fluery enough credit. I would be totally fine with him on the third pair. He proved he earned a shot at a regular spot in the lineup after last season. Forward core is rough though. Hopefully a couple guys can make the team out of camp and hold their own. But those three guys are gonna seriously need to elevate to be serviceable regulars.

I absolutely love the way Fleury skates as a D-Man, my biggest concern would his defensive play over the course of a season. He's a much better puck-mover than Ian Cole, but he would be able to move bodies, clear the net etc. Ian Cole started off decently last year and fell off a cliff it seemed after All-Star break. Maybe if Fleury earns that 3rd Pair role I can appreciate him more, the more I watch him play.

Yeah Fluery is a great skater and his offensive mind and ability are very promising. He did improve quiet a bit defensively last year, but obviously needs more improvement to be a rock solid option for 10-15 minutes a game all year. I think he has all the right tools and his mind is in the right place. I truly think he will step up next year and earn his job. Cole had a bit of a dip in play during the allstar break/February time, but I was impressed with him all season. I think he is a better puck mover than Fluery and he's a defensive machine. Definitely our best DFD last season IMO. I hope he's able to return on a cheap contract, but I don't know how likely that is. Because in reality, he should be earning in the 4 mil range. Even at his age, he is worth that amount for what he provides. He can still be a great top 4 option for many teams. I wouldn't be surprised if he sticks around in the environment in Tampa for cheap, but also wouldn't be shocked if he got like a 4+ mil x 1 or 2 year deal from a fringe team with money to spend
