Where do you think are likely landing spots? I thought the trade made a lot of sense for NYR. Nylander is better than either of those two players will ever be and is on a bargain deal for another year.

Bunting being a top line LW has failed 2x. If you resign him it is to be a great 3rd line LW that can log some top line minutes when needed. Knies grabbed hold of that 1st LW spot until Bennet slammed his head into the ice, which is completely legal in case you were wondering.

TOR is as likely as NYR would be. He is currently better than both no doubt but NYR has a long window with those 2 and losing them rapidly closes/changes the window as they don’t really have cap space. In order to make something like this work for NYR it would be Laf and Trocheck instead. Cap in/cap out, now I’m sure many leaf fans will say no which is fine, NYR aren’t trying to acquire Willy where it seems TOR are trying to move him or someone else. Positionally speaking it works but then we lose kakko in the mix and are in the same spot which is why it can’t be both. I’m sure theres a number of locations that can take on additional cap or have better cap in/ cap out solutions. CHI, ARZ are both great candidates for talent and cap hit. But make note that in any deal TOR is losing the trade most likely… personally I’d move AM first before he eat 14M of cap space
