Two birds one stone with COL? Looking for trade value feedback

Description
A lot of Edmonton fans really want Barrie, which makes me want Barrie even more! Barrie and Brodie playing together could become one of the best pairing in the league. Pickard slots perfectly with Smith, can play a lot of games and push Smith for a starting role.

I think that Calgary obviously needs to make a pick in the first three rounds, early second in this draft is a wild card and could work out alright. I think there also needs to be some sort of move that will get them another in the first three rounds, wither flipping a B prospect or an Bouma + package.

Like the idea of trading with the Avs and Barrie would be a good pickup but why not try and use the D prospects and picks to spring for one of the Avs available forwards? Duchene is good as gone I think, could bolster the Flames scoring up front. What're your thoughts?

I think we get outbid on Duchene all day, I would love to add that kind of scoring I think it would be deadly and make us very deep, but then so much of our cap is spent that a 4D becomes very lost in all of it. Especially if we are using D prospects to get Duchene then we are stuck with no number 4 D and no top prospects on the back end. Good thought though and would be a power move for sure!

I think the price for Duchene (and Landeskog) is probably higher than Barrie, probably driven by the fact that teams like MTL and NYI are desperate to add scoring to their lineups. Every team should always be looking to add scoring, but it seems like the current market dynamics are pricing Duchene higher than Barrie.

Have to think that Sakic would play EDM and CGY against each other in a deal for Barrie; EDM has Eberle in the chamber ready to launch somewhere else in a deal. Is Eberle worth more to a rebuilding COL than Shinkaruk + Kylington + whatever difference there would be in draft picks? Maybe. Hard to really say.

An interesting aspect of that deal is the Pickard piece; LV might go with the "corner the goalie market" play, a la the movie Trading Places, to maximize their future draft picks and prospects. Pickard could get snapped up if they go that route. If he stays in COL, then a team like CGY could benefit from multiple backup goalie sellers and COL might like having Gillies plus a pick coming back their way.

I like the deal from a CGY perspective, which probably means it's not enough.

LazarBeams I see your point. The hope is one of the Flames younger D prospects is ready sooner, rather than later. Also, unless a trade like this happens I think Michael Stone should be re-signed. That, or bring back Shot blocking machine Kris Russel.

Varderm I also agree the asking price would be higher and the Eberle vs a Calgary pick package is an interesting debate. If he can regain his scoring touch could be a good move, but the question is whether or not Colorado is looking for a quick "re-tool" vs a longer rebuild. If its longer, the picks may be more valued but I think there is enough talent on that roster to simply change a few pieces and compete again.
The goalie options for Vegas will define their expansion draft in my opinion. Quite a few strong options out there who could simply be taken and then moved for picks. One theory I had was the Knights selecting Fleury, Raanta, Pickard, and Mrazek, then moving two for picks. Will be very interesting needless to say.

Barrie isn't exactly the type of Dman we need to round out the top 4, but damn that looks pretty on paper.
