Dont think the kings do this, but if they would say yes, id flip separately Iafallo and Petersen (at 50%)
Both could get you some decent prospects, and open about 6 million in cap space, this would allow you to instead of bridging laf, lock him and miller up.

Trading Iafallo would sink our top 6 depth. Wouldn’t be a playoff team.

Bread isn't worth any of those items. You aren't just taking his stats last year, you will have to eat his decline at that cap hit for a few years. It's just NYR trying to dump a problem.

Iafallo isn't a top 6 LW.
You slide Laf to LW, so you've got Laf/CK
You then have Kakko and a Free agent Right wing, I'd like to think Tarasenko.

I think the problem is that for a 14% of the cap, hes actively a liability in the playoffs.
Even matthews who people are saying he disappeared, wasn't a liability, he just didnt score. Panarin was a turnover machine. It was pretty bad.

Now I don't disagree moving him for pennies on the dollar doesn't make sense, but if the rangers could get out of the contract without retention and some pieces that are movable on their own, that would be a win. I think we've reached the point where if the rangers want to win, they need kakko laf to carry a significant part of that offensive burden.
If they can't the rangers are stuck anyways.

There are PLENTY of Ranger fans trashing Bread on WFAN and Twitter after that 1st round series. It's not a coincidence that Ranger fans are trying to deal him left and right on CapFriendly...you being one of them. Teams don't try trading players they like on here.

In fact between him and Trouba, it's what the first article in The Athletic commented on with Ranger fans being so upset.

As a Rangers fan who pays attention to the Kings, I have to admit that this is a horrible trade for the Kings. Regardless of retaining some money why would the Kings trade any players for a 30 year old who soon to be over the hill and can’t produce in the playoffs??
