Aho had 67 points this year. He’s not close to Matthews who “struggled” with 85 points in 74 games.

Ditto Marner vs Kuzmenko and Boeser. How do you get better tradding a 99 point Selke finalist? Boeser is a cap dump and would come with a 1st for free.

You made the Leafs much worse.

did you notice Skjei in the package with Aho? Aho and Matthews aren't a 1-1 but I think this makes the team way more defensively sound.

Also no-one cares about Marner's regular season performances anymore dude. He could win 5 selves, but if he gets pushed around in the playoffs, and is too afraid to make a play because he's 165lbs, all his skill is meaningless in the post season.

you know Aho "struggled" with 67 points right? His top LW was out after january and his RW partner was out for a while with a shoulder injury in November. Then Jarvis replaced him who had a sophomore slump. So yea, Matthews best winger had more points than all of Aho's combined due to injuries and such.

Matthews has scored more goals than any NHL player since entering the league. Matthews has more goals in 7 seasons than Mackinnon has in 10. Matthews has averaged over 50 goals per 82 games since entering the league. Matthews led all forward in blocked shots. He was 8th in takeaways. He’s bigger, better offensively and better defensively. He is a top 5 player in the league. Matthews missed 8 games and battled injuries all year as well. If he didn’t we are talking about another 50 goal 100 point season. Aho is a fine player but he does not come close to Matthews in value.

A player of Skjei caliber is acquirable without giving up a player like Matthews. Sign Gavrikov in the off-season.

How were Boeser’s and Kuzmenko’s post-season? The Leafs have made the playoffs every year with Marner. Only 4 teams advanced further. MacKinnon took 9 years to win. Stamkos took 12. I guess they should have traded them? McDrai has no cup. Aho, Fox, Robertson, and 30 other top players with no cup. I guess there should be traded for Borck friggin Boeser? Give it up son.

I think it's hilarious that the "Marner is bad in the playoffs!!!" narrative is still going on when he's boosted his playoff performance to a ever-so-slightly below point per game career in the playoffs. Doubly funny because Matthew Tkachuk, who is considered one of the front runners for the Conn Smythe this year, entered the playoffs with a disappointing 15 points in 27 games, having been out of the first round only once.

It seems only the Leafs players value drops dramatically without winning a cup. Too bad because it would be nice to pick up McDrai for some spare parts.

i didnt argue that matthews wasnt better than aho. You cant argue that matthews struggled with a low point total and then dismiss aho struggled getting his point total as well.

man you need to calm down. all I'm saying is, this core has been together for 7 years and one 1(ONE) game in the playoffs outside the first round.
if you think we just keep bringing them all back and win a cup, you're kidding yourself.

sometimes big change and a different look can have massive positive results. Listen I love Matthews as much as the next guy, and Marner is a stellar regular season guy.
Don't tell me that Marner's performance in round 2 was anywhere close to acceptable.. maybe you're only looking at his points, and not watching the games.

85 points in 74 games would have been a career year for Aho. His best season wa 83 point in 82 games. A struggling Matthews is better than Aho’s best season.

You’re delusional. MacKinnon took 9 years, Stamkos 12. McDrai, no cup. Aho, Robertson, Hintz, Pasternak, Peterson, RNH, Karlson, Fox, Hughes, Panarin, Tkachuk, Miller, Hischier, Connor, Kaprisov, etc. etc. etc. all no cup

The great Matthew Tkachuk had 15 points in 27 games prior to this year and no cup. Heck, if it wasn’t for Brobovsky playing in God mode, he’d still be without one.

You don’t judge a player by how many cups his TEAM has won.
