Description

I prefer the idea that other people have proposed (most recently Just a Guess) of signing PLD to a 1 year offer sheet at $6.3 M in order to make Winnipeg match the offer (if Winnipeg does not match it, Montreal gives up its 2024 first round pick and 2024 third round picks). Then Winnipeg could not trade PLD and that walks him right to UFA status and the Habs can sign him in 2024.
A few things to think about though: 1. Would they go this route again after the Carolina events with Kotkaniemi?
2. Would the Jets possibly accept the 2024 First and Third from Montreal? Would that be bad for Montreal, given that Montreal is in rebuild mode and next year's pick might be quite good?
3. Wouldn't Montreal HAVE TO get Caufield signed before they try any of this so that Winnipeg does not try to do the same thing back to Montreal and the Kotkaniemi story is revived!

I’m not sure monahan is that big a answer, his track record his not being able to complete a season healthy, I’m sure there’s some 27/28 year old ufas that might be able to bargain hunt or add to the nucleus going forward.

Honestly, if the Habs were to go with an offersheet, I'd send one to Evan Bouchard before Dubois. A deal can be reached for Dubois...Bouchard, very unlikely.

I agree that we should simply wait for PLD as we are not ready... and NO to Bouchard even if I like him a lot!
that will mean you give Edm a shot at 2024 Top 5 pick and give a young D-Core 7-8M /year for not having Edmonton to match.
Ghule will cost you the same in 2 years

I hear you... 6M cap space with 6 roster player to sign... but they would match and say thank for 5yx6,4M for Bouchard and clean Yama, Ceci or even Hyman if needs be!
and yes... that's mean they are in a bad shape as drDrai need an extension in 2 years!
