This Murray trade keeps popping up. Ask yourself, why would the Sharks take on that cap to move 8 or so spots. They wouldn't.

What is the obsession with trading Marner/Nylander for a defenseman when scoring was Toronto's biggest playoff problem?

Wild.

Because a 2-1 playoff win is far more valuable than a 5-4 regular season win! That deal isn’t bad for TOR or NYI but I would ask for a 2nd and 3rd at the very least.

Sharks don’t do this no matter how many people post it. It’s not smart. The player at 28 is very similar in value to a guy in 36 range in this draft. And taking on 5 mil to get a guy of similar caliber to what they could have otherwise isn’t logical. Only way this makes sense is do the Nylander deal then trade Bailey and Murray to SJS plus the Boston pick and a 4th for Nico Sturm. Then we have a reasonable offer!

8 picks vs 13? And a bigger cap hit?
