Hell of an overpay just to have someone take Granlund. Buying him out and keeping POJ/Legare is a better option, even if Legare is a bum.

I see your point, but I’d rather keep as much cap space going forward for TDL and signing some upgrades in 2024-25

What is that nightmare of a trade? Just buyout Granlund.

Also, you left 8mil in cap space

Going to be tough to trade Granlund without big sweeteners. I don’t want his buyout to linger like JJ does. And I don’t want him to play and be an anchor like Carter (who isn’t going anywhere unless a miracle LTIR)

Left cap space hoping for a big TDL acquisition

His buyout is significantly better than this trade though.

I would argue there won't be a big TDL acquisition though because this team will be a seller.

I wish they had been a seller this year like Washington

Couldn't disagree more. At the deadline they had the 1st wild card position and were 8 points out of 3rd place with 4 games in hand.

They didn't have much to sell anyways

I know, but anyone being honest would admit they would have been demolished in the playoffs
So at the very least, maybe granlund trade doesn’t happen.
And maybe rutta or petty get traded

To be fair, anyone being honest would admit that Florida would have been demolished in the playoffs. And here we are. All you need is to get in - anything can happen.

I'm all for getting rid of Granlund - your heads in the right place. I'm just trying to say buying him out is a lot better than giving up assets imo. Rutta is a possibility for sure. I doubt Petry gets moved. Has a decent NTC and he's a good player so they aren't really looking to move him - and with a bad contract not many people will want him or can afford him
