If he's traded, he then needs to be replaced from outside the organization, which is not easy or cheap. Any way you want to slice this, it is NOT a wise cap saving idea for them to trade a young, very promising ELC player at a prime position. Kinda the opposite of that, really.

I’m high on Schneider just like most people commenting on this post. Right now, at this exact moment, he is probably worth $3m on a 2-3 year bridge deal IF he was RFA, right now. He’s not, though. If he continues to progress like the fanbase expects him to, then he will certainly be asking for whatever Miller gets this year, if not more.
