Since CBJ are looking to make the playoffs

Created by: KentMcNally

Description
Now might be the time to make a deal with Columbus, who clearly appear to be making an attempt to make the playoffs ASAP, given the deals they have made this week. This might mean that they are willing to depart with some futures for immediate help.
Getting the Blue Jackets' 2nd round pick is like getting a later first round pick.
Trading Dvorak retained gives Montreal some relief and helps CBJ insulate/mentor Carlsson and Roslovic a little bit.

If ypu are selling dvorak at less that 2.5 million cap hit you better be getting significantly more than whats essentially a 5th rpund pick. Thats a terrible trade

What do you mean a 5th round pick? Montreal is getting a 2nd round pick from Columbus (#34 overall)?

I don't see the need to trade players who's contracts end soon. Especially not paying to unload them. While I agree that Dvorak doesn't fit the Habs needs in the future, having him C the third line for the next two years isn't bad

I did my trade to get pick #35 and free up some cap space. Dvorak could benefit from a change of scenery and you are right, he does not fit in the long term plans.

Montreal could sign Monahan and hope he can be 3C for most of the year, produce like he did last year (but for longer) and flip him at the trade deadline.
