In Bailey the Jets land a solid 2nd line left winger that is still relatively young, has good underlying stats. on an affordable contract - that expires at the end of the year. Did I mention he can score a little too? The Jets need some help on the left side after you get by Ehlers.....

The Islanders are very tight to the cap, and after the year it is unlikely that they are able to keep Bailey around. Couple that with the Islanders young depth up front and it's easy to see why this works for both sides. Lemieux is a cheap contract for the next 2 years that can fill in playing in the bottom 6.
