I feel like the success that Hill- a guy who was basically given away to the Knights by arguably their biggest rival- just had is a pretty good argument for NOT spending a bunch of money to keep him around. Why pay to keep Hill when the next Hill could be had for a 5th round pick? Hill definitely got hot at the right time but does anyone actually believe that he's suddenly a starting goalie that's going to give you 4 million dollar goaltending?

With Cassidy as coach and the crop of defenders they have, Vegas can probably insulate any number of lower end goalies enough to get good results. If a legitimate starting goaltender becomes available that's one thing but is that really Hill?

This makes a ton of sense. The biggest argument to keep Hill around is based on emotion. Prior to his injury, Thompson was the current and future at the position. You could ink another cheap netminder and save much needed cap room.

The two gentlemen above here seems to be under the impression that paying ≈ 4 million dollars for a backup goalie that just won your team the cup with a .934 save% is a bad thing. Spoiler, it's absolutely ****ing not.

And especially the first fella seems to think he can predict the future. Spoiler again, he's as clueless as to what kind of season Hill is gonna have next year as anyone else, so him just instantly ruling Hill out and saying it's not worth it and that he won't play well enough to make 4 million dollars not even 4 days after he won us the cup shows that he doesn't have the slightest inclination of a clue of what he's talking about.
He also thinks the "next Hill" is just out there to be had if you wave around 5th round picks... Like, you've got to be trolling? 😂

Personally i would be stoked if we got Hill back for around 4, and then we could get someone like Connor Brown, Miles Wood or Alex Killorn, because i dont think Barbashev is gonna take a big discount like that.
