Description
If Penguins/Dubas want to be competitive this year and next to still push for a cup as FSG stated is still the case, i think they'll have to make trades with how poor the UFA market is.

IMO top UFA's with Bratt off the board now are Barbashev, Bertuzzi, Compher, Killorn and Tarasenko.

I think Avs work to keep Compher and Vegas will work to keep Barbashev. Bertuzzi and Killorn are toss ups given the B's and Bolts cap situations. Tarasenko won't go back to NYR.

With that, think Dubas and co will need to get creative and make a few trades.

  1. Roy, Nicolas
Additional Details:
This is a toss up i suppose, but the knights have very little cap next year and I'm going to assume McCrimmon is going to want to bring back Barbashev and Hill next season which means they're going to have to clear cap space. Could make this a 2nd if needed.
VGK
  1. Légaré, Nathan
  2. 2023 3rd round pick (NJD)
4.
BOS
  1. 2024 2nd round pick (PIT)
Additional Details:
I'm not sure what the value is on Hall, i've seen a number of trades on AGM for a 2nd and maybe a prospect or part of a bigger package. IMO at the end of the day if the B's want to resign Bertuzzi/Orlov/Swayman they're going to need probably $20M in space alone for those 3, so they won't be able to be super picky on returns in order to shed cap.
5.
PIT
    FC
    ANA
    1. Rutta, Jan
    2. 2023 6th round pick (PIT)
    Additional Details:
i think Rutta is a solid 3rd pair player, this can be to any team pens just need to free a little cap space.

I don't think any of the trades except for Rutta to Anaheim are logical.

The Roy trade is bad. Roy has much more value than that. I Think Rutta can bring back 4-5th rd. I bit of a overpay for Hanifin

Why would the Roy and Hanafin trades be accepted by the other teams? They would get better offers and those players don't have sufficient trade protections to dictate where they go. Roy has none and Hanafin only has an 8 team NTC.

disagree on the Hanifin comment, i've seen plenty of flames fans on here think that's a fair deal for calgary back.

Roy can be pumped to a 2nd rounder, but I don't think he's worth anything past that. On a great contract for sure but floats around the 30pt mark, not worth an over payment.
