More Draft Floor Deals

Created by: MNCountryClub
Team: 2023-24 Minnesota Wild
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 16, 2023
Published: Jun. 16, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Team should be reasonably competitive to the extent that locker room morale doesn't tank, but still bad enough where you can sell Hartman, Foligno and/or Zucc at TDL. I'd expect they miss playoffs and have a decent 2024 draft pick.

Cap opens up next summer, so you can pivot back to more competitive the following year.

(11) Dvorsky
(21) I predict one of [But, Simashev, Yager, Sale, Honzek] will be available, open to others here too
(43) BPA `but maybe a guy like Stramel, Ziemmer, Suniev, or a high-upside guy who falls.

Jets aren't doing that, we have enough LHD, would think Monday would prefer to keep Lambos anyway.

Depends on which Jets fan you ask - had one tell me yesterday that they'd accept this deal in a heartbeat

Unreal, the last thing this team needs is more LHD, they desperately need to find a solid center that isn't a runt with their 1st round pick.

Jets don’t need LHD prospects and Lambos is not worth a mid to high first

Change the MIN 2nd to the VAN 2nd and I'd do it assuming certain players are gone

Makes sense - don't shoot the messenger, I'm just going off what I was told yesterday.

Lambos for 18 is definitely fair value. Whether or not you'd accept the deal is a totally different conversation, but you're either overrating mid-1sts or underrating Lambos.

I agree - I wouldn't do this deal myself. But Russo/Smith keep saying there's smoke to the Duhaime trade rumors and that they'd like to find a big bodied 3rd pair RHD, so this made sense in that vacuum.

That seems like a reasonable enough counter. I'm only interested in this deal from MNs perspective if Dvorsky is still on-board, so I'd have the same contingency.

Dang I hate that our gm is fixated on big body players. Whether it's Reaves or else. Only reason to trade duhaime is if he's asking too much

Yeah I'm sure it's related to his ask, but like how much can he honestly expect? I get that anythign over 1 year is cutting into UFA years, but the guy had 10 points and like 2 concussions last year....he's not gonna get much more than like maaaaaybe 1.3-1.5M? If that?

That was me. People saying... no more LHD, etc... etc... is hilarious. Trade away LHD to make room for Lambos. Lambos is 20 and from WPG. He's worth the 18OA in this draft. He's a year or 2 away anyways, so ideal for the Jets rebuild. Anyone not wanting him for the Jets for the 18OA pick is baffling and probably fits with Chevytakestoomanydaysoff and just picks the BPA mentality rather than picking the BPA "that fits the Jets".

I don’t agree I thought Lambos was incredibly good when he was drafted but since hasn’t really impressed me I don’t think he deserves to be traded for a pick above 25

He shouldn't get more than 1mil, maybe 1.5. I don't think you can explain 2 mil for bottom line player who can fill top 4 occasionally. He's good at his role but what we have seen from Guerin is he tends to trade players who want too much.

Yeah I actually agree with you on this one, but I'm not gonna convince some Jets fans on the internet what their FO would or wouldn't consider lol, so I just left it as is.

I'm not saying they would accept this, but I guarantee they'd give it some legitimate consideration. More than others are suggesting anyway.

The Jets need to draft a center, winger or RHD with their 18th overall pick, not trade it for yet another LHD.

That's fair, you're certainly entitled to your opinion. 25 seems like an extremely arbitrary valuation to just assign, but all good.

They do, but I'm tired of WPG drafting the BPA, or who they think is the BPA. Their hit / fail rate isn't great, especially in the last few years. They lucked out with Laine and then traded him away. Take the WPG kid and rebuild with players like him. Trade picks, LHD, prospects away and get another draft pick to get a C, RHD, etc... The players that may be available at 18 are most likely not going to be as good as Lambos, unless we get lucky and get someone like Colby Barlow, etc...

I disagree that it's "zero chance".....you can't possibly know that.

well, sure, but per all the insiders in VAN hes been top of their list this whole draft cycle so i "highly doubt" they would do it.

That I can get on board with. "highly doubt", "near zero chance", "very minimal chance".....any of those are fair play.

Could definitely see Dvorsky landing in VAN - seems liek it would be a great fit.

I would probably double down on centers and draft Edstrom, Ritchie, Nelson, or Wahlberg at 21.

I can appreciate that. I personally don't like any of those guys enough to take at 21, but plenty of scouts would support that idea.
